Today, I was having a very calm leisure walk on the terrace, as usual. And also children of the playgroup were playing on the terrace (on another apartment) as usual.

This time, it has urged me to think upon my childhood games, childhood days.

Talking about those children behind my apartment, you might ask me which game were they playing? And what fascinated me to write it upon, eh!

Well, before getting further here’s what has led me to think upon.

Their joyfulness in playing, and not the particular game.

Coming back to the title — This is not childhood.

I want to ask — “What is childhood?”

Wait, can you please wait for a while, I really want to do a cartwheel.

You’d be thinking what a weirdo eh?

So, yes I’m a weirdo if you think this is.

To be frank, it’s been a long time since I’ve done cartwheels.

Because earlier times, during my childhood, I was literally doing this so frequently each day. And my friends were always mad & telling me to stop it, it was enough already.

But, I wasn’t stopping in those times. (And you can still call me a weirdo)

Besides, I did stop when life moved. I think I’ve grown up. I’m a man. Bling Bling.

To be honest with you, life moved, I didn’t grow.

One of my best and closest friends of all time, Aayush, had taught me how to do cartwheels. Or I can say “how to do fantastic cartwheels well”.

Apart from our childhood era, we all have some damn great moments that you never forget.

Isn’t it?

Learning cartwheels was my most memorable memory. And yes I always have fun in doing that along with remembering that. Remembering how we both were doing cartwheels after each period of break in school.

So, what do you think?

Did my cartwheels bring my childhood back?It may be yes, eh?

Of Course dude! You really cannot even imagine how nostalgic I’m feeling right now.

Some of you might have guessed over reading the above few paras.

Most of all have a really memorable childhood. Moreover, we miss them once we cross almost 18. It’s what we think, mostly. Agree?

But I’m sad to discover that I was with my childhood already during that cartwheel which I did just before writing.

Why is it sad?

Because I didn’t even know that I was with my childhood. So, if I do cartwheels right now, then I might be like I’m in childhood.

Hence, it’s great to know we are never missing childhood.

Still, I’m desperate about my disbelief of missing it before understanding.

We can say, we are not missing it.

Guys! If something is to be missed, then it’s not childhood.

Because we already remembered that, felt that, lived that again, childhood is back. Again.

What are we missing then?

Then, is remembering or reliving those cartwheels is childhood?

It may be, but we are not missing childhood — It’s damn sure.

I’m coming to you. Yes, your favorite game.

S’pose that you love cricket.

Is cricket your most favorite game of childhood?

And you are still playing that irrespective of what your age, where life has moved?

If yes then, I’m pretty sure you are not missing the sport or the game part of childhood.

Then what is childhood?

If we are missing our childhood games, the favorite sport of ours, then it is not our childhood.

If we are missing our favorite dance move or dialogue of drama, then it is not our childhood.

If I’m missing those cartwheels, then it is not my childhood.

If you are missing anything, I am missing anything, we are missing anything related to childhood, then it’s not our childhood.

Then the question is what is childhood?

Sometimes, some questions are better to stay alive forever.

Let’s leave this one unanswered. I will see ya in the next chapter.

What is childhood?
